I have loved learning about all the Web 2.0 Tools and would
love to implement them in my classroom. The tools I plan to use are prezi and
google drive .
- The lesson I plan to do is aimed for 5th grade on figurative language. When I was doing my internship in this grade level, I noticed this is where most of the students struggled.
- The learning goal is for students to identify and create figurative language such as a simile, metaphor, and personification. Students will write a story using a certain amount of each.
- Students showed a lack of understanding with similes and metaphors. They were often confused between the two. I would tap into their interests by showing the students a video on figurative language on Flocabulary. There are also videos available on Brain Pop Jr. linked figurative language that could also be used.
- The two tools that I would use are Prezi and google drive. Students will use google drive to work together in creating a story. Each story should contain 4 similes, 4 metaphors, and 4 personifications. Students will be placed in groups of 4. Each student will be accountable for 1 simile, metaphor, and personification. They will work together to create a story using these. Prezi will be used for students to create a presentation on their story. After using google drive to make the story, students will create a prezi presentation of their story. It will be like an online movie. They will be able to add clipart, pictures, and sounds.
- For activities, we would show the videos and review figurative language daily before working on assignment.
- Students will be evaluated by using a rubric. They will be in charge of their own grade by following the rubric. It will state with details everything needed on the story.
